Products Description of Pharmaceutical-Grade Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose CAS#9004-32-4

Pharmaceutical-grade Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose, usually referred to as CMC-Na, is a water-soluble cellulose ether derived from natural cellulose. Its molecular structure contains carboxymethyl sodium groups. It is white fibrous powder or granular powder, almost odorless. It swells rapidly in water to form a viscous colloidal solution, while it is insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone. It features good thickening, emulsifying, film-forming and water-retention properties.

This pharma-grade material complies with pharmacopoeia specifications with low heavy metal content and high purity. It is widely used as pharmaceutical excipient.

Product Application of Pharmaceutical-Grade Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose CAS#9004-32-4

Pharmaceutical-grade Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose serves as multi-functional excipient in drug formulations. In tablet production, it acts as binder and disintegrant to promote tablet disintegration and improve drug dissolution rate. For ointments and topical creams, it functions as thickener and stabilizer to maintain uniform texture. It can also be used as suspending agent for oral suspensions to prevent solid particle sedimentation.

Besides solid and semi-solid medicines, it is applied in ophthalmic formulations as lubricating viscosity modifier. It can also be used in biochemical reagents. It meets strict pharmacopoeia quality standards for pharmaceutical manufacturing, lab formulation and related medical raw material production.
